"Ah, finally some comfort "said Aman.Aman who had just returned from training of football was totally exhausted."Help yourself to some lime juice son"said his mom."Ah! finally some solace"he muttered to himself.You must have known Aman ah! he was the boy whom parents doted on. He was also extremely popular in school because of his charming nature and his ability to do good in whichever thing he practiced or followed.Nonetheless he was good in studies as he was in sports.But on other part of city there was Prateek the best friend of Aman oh yes what a pair they were inseparable no one knew Aman more than Prateek did but no one knew Prateek's secret he despised Aman he thought that he was always in the shadow of him Prateek thought that he can do better than Aman if he can get out of his shadow. He always wanted to be in limelight but he was always neglected it was like he almost didn't have his own identity he always referred as that friend of Aman.Seeds of hatred were planted in his mind.He silently mused to himself "Hum the interschool championship is round the corner and as usual Aman would be selected as the captain".Prateek was frustrated that why always Aman is selected as the captain why he can't be considered to be capable of that precious position.He was thoroughly frustrated that he broke the porcelain figure of Buddha next to him it's well said that we can never understand the human mind.Next day dawned Aman was excited he and their school's team were going on a exhibition match and it was to get children interested in football it was the first time Aman had never gone to play football at this level and his coach said that some of the national selection community members would be there keeping an eye on to select some players and it could be an perfect opportunity for Aman so his coach said that he must bring his Agame today so he can be the shining star of his school.Accumulating his thoughts he went to the shower.But the coach has done a great deal of damage without knowing it he only told Aman about the national selection community but he never told Prateek anything about it and when Prateek found about it it was for him devastating."Hey Prateek are you excited about the people who are about to come to see us and see us form the national selection community"said Aman who was boarding the bus for the exhibition match not knowing that the whole team never knew anything about this national selection community."Wait what national selection community you are talking about I don't know anything about this we are going for a normal exhibition match that's it"but Prateek's mind was making it's own theories and his doubts were confirmed that he was not worthy of knowing this info. and he was very angry.But only that moment coach was explaining the team about the national selection community but Prateek was not listening and he remained moody throughout the entire journey.When they reached the stadium everybody was excited and seeing towards the match and everybody was wondering who was going to be selected by the national selection people.They were doing warmup and and everybody was cooperating well and the excitement was high and it can be felt on the air also.It was the time for match the coach was giving a prep talk and they were ready to rock and roll.It was Lancers high convent vs DAV Public School.Referee had blown the whistle and the game started.The spectators could easily see the superiority of Lancers Aman was sure that he can easily cut through the defence of DAV's team but the ball was currently with Prateek and he was in no mood to give the ball to Aman so he could get a goal and shine in the eyes of the selectors.But it was not that easy for Prateek because the defenders have had him covered and it was looking like that Prateek can't tackle the swarm of players that have surrounded him and the ball was taken by the DAV players and a perfect opportunity to score was lost by Lancers and the crowd booed them.But the match was not a lose for Lancers they won but not with the amount of goals they wanted the score was only 1-0.It was only from luck because it was a penalty andAman scored the goal.But the news was that the selection community had selected no one.It was disappointing for Aman but it was bothering him that why Prateek never replied to him or never passed the ball to he was not sure what caused this if this was his mistake or he had done this knowingly."Hey what happened to you Prateek did you not hear my calls for pass"said Aman."Sorry but I don't have time to hear from likes of you"said Prateek.Aman was shocked by such a reply."What do you mea...."but Prateek had already left.It was deeply disturbing for Aman.He was deep in thoughts when leaving the stadium.But he never saw a i10 coming from across the road.He was going to catch the bus but then it happened.His life was shattered.....
